came across your blog as i was trawling through the internet in search of tomy/tomica trains and how best to design my layouts.

although there are plenty of japanese sites around the translations available via babelfish/google leave a lot to be desired.

so your blog and roy's Thomas Plarail Fan site are like a godsend! finally a site i can understand!

i have to admit you have gone the extra mile with your modifications of the tracks. at the moment i am quite happy playing around with the existing tracks sans modifications.

forgive me for not having your entire blog as yet but where have you got your sets from - Thailand or the UK?

wmost sets from Thailand... or Japan... and also some bits from ebay. In the UK ebay is the best place to buy... as long as you are aware of the prices in Woolworths, Toys'R'us and Amazon.co.uk because they often have reductions and specials.

WOW, I was having trouble visualizing a new set up for my tracks. (meager compared to yours) I have a question, did most of your tracks come from sets? Did you buy any individual pieces? How long have you been compiling your stock? I like the modified tracks. I have two of the Giant sets and do not have space for more, but I need some varied pieces that I can only find in sets here (unless I buy online). I am tempted to try this out.

I started with a few sets, then added the twin tracks seperately as they don't often come in sets much. Here in Thailand (where the factory produces them) they are much cheaper than in the UK. I have also got stuff from ebay.... the track is pretty robust and most secondhand stuff is OK... the sloping rails seem to suffer the most wear and tear. Sets do sem to offer good value and often have pieces difficult to obtain singly. The 'Ultimate' set is especially good value at present reduced prices (from Toys 'r us)

Im here in USA, I have checked out the Ultimate set and Walmart carried one called the Giant set with a few variations, but compariable. It has 143 pieces, and most of the piece difference is that it does not have as many trains. I was able to get 2 for $17 each on clearance. Thanks for sharing your train knoledge here, it has been a help.
